Visit to Brussels 22-24 Feb 2006
Following the highly successful field trip to the European Parliament in Strasbourg in 2005, the 2006 Field Trip to Brussels took place from February 22nd to 24th. Students and staff stayed at the Institute for Ireland in Europe in Leuven.
Following a guided tour of Leuven, including an interesting tour of the Stella Artois brewery on day one, day two included a guided bus tour of Brussels, followed by a visit to the European Parliament.
The highlight of the field trip was meeting the six Irish MEPs who came along to talk to the group – Eoin Ryan, Sean O Neachtain, Liam Ayleward, Brian Crowley, Kathy Sinnott and Gay Mitchell. Day three was spent in the medieval city of Bruges.
