Accountancy & Professional Studies

The professional accountant plays a strategic role in the management and development of all organisations across a variety of roles in both practice and industry, including sectors such as financial services, banking, manufacturing, construction, education and consultancy.  The accountant translates financial data into usable business information that supports vital decision making within organisations.  Today's accountant displays a varied skill set that enable him/her to deliver the new and expanding services that growing businesses require.

This programme is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the financial world either in a professional accounting environment or in a management setting. A career in second level teaching is also an option. Many of the subjects required for membership of the various Professional Accountancy Bodies and the Institute of Taxation are covered in our programmes therefore ITT Students may obtain exemptions should they pursue professional exams.

The ITT operates a semesterised system for examinations and a significant level of the final grade is assessed through continuous assessments. This offers much greater flexibility for the student.

The Accountancy Departments commitment to innovation was recently highlighted by South Dublin County Enterprise Board. Read more?
