This innovative degree is your starting point for a rewarding career in the international hospitality and tourism industry.

A unique feature of this programme is that it has been developed in partnership with industry representative associations and with leading practitioners from the food, leisure and business tourism sectors.

This partnership with industry means that students will be exposed to a contemporary and practical curriculum focused on three components of international best practice: operations, communications and management.  In semester five, they will undertake a six month professional internship. They will be able to study French, German, or Spanish thereby maximising the full benefits of their internship and their employability upon graduation. Students will also have the opportunity to study contemporary modules in web design and e-business, media planning, procurement, food & drink tourism, corporate social responsibility, entrepreneurship and sustainable tourism policy and planning.

This industry is fast-moving, competitive and truly global in scope. Organizations range from multi-national corporations, through public sector bodies to small individually owned business enterprises.
 
The number of jobs created by this industry will grow significantly in the coming decade. The World Travel and Tourism Council, estimate that by 2020, 303 million people will be employed in the sector, up from 235 million people in 2009.

What do I Need?

Entry Requirements for Bachelor Degree of Arts - International Hospitality and Tourism
Management

At least Grade D3 (ordinary level) in five subjects in the Leaving Cert. The subjects must include either English or Irish. Ordinary level Mathematics (Grade D3) is also a requirement.

Recent minimum CAO points: 210

 The BA Degree in International Hospitality & Tourism Management TA 015 and the BA Degree (Hons) in International Hospitality & Tourism Management  TA 026  are designed to provide graduates with a unique skill-set to enable them build and pursue successful careers in international hospitality & tourism management.  These graduates will be in demand by hospitality companies, transport companies, tour operators, destination and event management companies, state agencies and consulting companies at home and abroad.
