Schools Liaison - The link for your students with ITT Dublin

With the CAO Change of Mind period, The Schools Liaison Office at ITT Dublin is dedicated to the goal of assisting prospective students to make informed choices about their higher education pathways.

The Schools Liaison Officer visits schools throughout Ireland and will host school visits to our campus and coordinate the Open Days and Evenings to provide for second level students and their families.  We can assist Career Guidance Counsellors by being on hand to answer your questions or queries on the CAO process and the courses provided by ITT Dublin.

ITT Dublin offers an extensive range of courses in Business, Humanities,Science, Computing and Engineering.  We believe in giving our students a quality education - and one that has a good standing in the marketplace.  As a result our courses are deliberately industry-focused; they are designed with business in mind.  The qualification they will receive at the end of their time here will make them attractive to employers.  This is always important but especially now when there are fewer jobs to go around! student_corridor_b

We also believe in giving our students the maximum support to ensure that they make the most of their time in College.  We have a learning support unit that's there to help students who are having problems academically, particularly in their first year.  Other supports include a counsellor, a nurse, a careers' officer and a chaplain.

For students and their parents the process of choosing what to study at third level can be a daunting one and we offer information, advice and support to second-level students, their families, Guidance Counsellors and teachers through our Schools Liaison Office. students_stairs

We aim to support prospective students in making informed career choices and we do this through:

  • School Visits - We can provide you with either a General School Visit that provides students an overview of the Institute, its facilities and a brief summary of all our courses or a Specialised School Visit which can offer students an introduction to courses and careers in a specified subject area.
  • Parent Evenings - We have recently been invited to speak at a number of Parent Evenings.  From students in 3rd Year and Transition Year on advising them in making subject choices for Leaving Certificate or for senior students, we can give parents information on the courses provided by ITT Dublin and the possible careers these qualifications can provide their sons or daughters.
  • Parent/Teacher Meetings - We can provide an information stand at Parent/Teacher Meetings for Senior classes.  This provides parents an opportunity to speak to staff in the Institute on a one to one basis and answer any queries they may have.  This also is a useful and productive method of filling in the waiting time parents may have at Parent Teacher Meetings.
  • Lunchtime Roadshows - We can place an information stand in your school during lunchtime or any suitable time, providing students with information on our courses and answering their specific questions.  This means no disruption to classes.
  • Open Days/Evenings - ITT Dublin holds an Open Day and a number of Open Evenings each year.  This is an occasion for prospective students to visit the Institute and immerse themselves in campus life, programmes and facilities.  they can meet with Lecturers and current students.   Next Open Evening - 2nd & 8th September 2010  Students_Open_Day_1
  • CAO Workshop - We conduct a CAO Workshop at our Open Evening prior to the CAO closing date.  We offer students advice on completing their CAO application form and an opportunity on completing their CAO application in the Institute.
  • Attending Exhibitions -  Higher Options, FAS Opportunities etc
  • Campus Visits - ITT Dublin welcomes student visits throughout the year.  If you would like to bring students for a campus visit, contact the Schools Liaison Officer.

Feedback regarding the Institutes's Schools Liaison Office is sought on a regular basis and is always welcome. If you have any comments that you would like to make or if there is anything that you feel that we should be doing to improve our service to you please let us know.  Students_Open_Day_b
