About the Course
The Financial Services industry is a key sector for the Irish economy and is a very significant employer in Ireland and internationally. This industry is going through a process of change, as was demonstrated recently with the significant market downturn. Now, more than ever, this sector needs well trained individuals that can move quickly into middle and senior management roles.
This new programme was developed by ITT Dublin to meet the requirements of the industry by equipping graduates with a thorough understanding of the challenges and complexities that face this sector. It is a comprehensive and market-relevant qualification that will appeal to a wide range of employers. For those already working in this sector it will provide them with an industry specific qualification that will help them progress more speedily on their career path.
This programme will appeal to those who want an industry specific qualification in this dynamic sector. A unique aspect of this course is the integration of both experienced industry professionals and the institute’s skilled academic staff in the delivery of the modules.
The award on successful completion of the four year programme is an Honours Bachelor Degree in Business – Financial Services and Investment Analysis. Exit awards are also possible at the end of years two and three.

Entry Level
Leaving Cert with a minimum of Grade C3 in two Higher Level subjects and a minimum of Grade D3 (Ordinary Level) in four other subjects , which must include Mathematics and English or Irish. Prior knowledge of accountancy or economics is not required.
Mature applicants (23 years of age) may not be required to meet the minimum entry requirements (as set out above) but may be considered on their merits. All applicants must have competence in spoken and written English.
Course Content / Timetable
Modules are semesterised and delivered using a combination of industry specialists and lecturers. Exam Note: All modules on the programme are examined in common and at the same time as the full-time
Your studies on this program will include the following:
The first year of your degree concentrates on developing your knowledge and understanding of the basic subjects and principles underlying business and finance.
During year two you will focus on foundation areas such as International Economics, Introduction to Financial Services, Banking & Insurance Law, Regulatory Environment and International Financial Management.
In year three, you will study specialist topics such as Fund Accounting, Investor Research & Analysis, E-Business for Financial Service and Financial Modelling.
In your final year your studies will include critical subjects such as Corporate Governance & Ethics, Treasury & Risk Management, Tax Planning & Wealth Management and Derivatives. By the end of year four you will be industry ready to choose a challenging career in this very varied sector.

Exemptions
It may be possible on the successful completion of this program to gain exemptions from the Institute of Bankers of Ireland examinations and from Professional Accounting Bodies examinations.

Fees & Funding
Academic Year 2010/11
Academic Year 1 €1620 (Inclusive of ITT Dublin registration fee and examination fee). If completing individual modules/ groups of modules the individual module fee is €130 plus the ITT Dublin registration fee of €30 and an examination fee of €15 per module examination (up to a maximum of €70 per academic year).
Academic Year 2 €1755 (Inclusive of ITT Dublin registration fee and examination fee). If completing individual modules/ groups of modules the individual module fee is €140 plus the ITT Dublin registration fee of €30 and an examination fee of €15 per module examination (up to a maximum of €70 per academic year).
