Thesis Submission and Examination Process
The Institute has specific regulations governing the submission of a research thesis for examination. These are presented in detail in the Code of Practice for Research Degree Programmes and can also be viewed at ??????????????????????
The steps involved are given in the STEP-BY-STEP FLOWCHART – THESIS SUBMISSION & EXAMINATION
Details on the layout and format of a research thesis are provided in the Code of Practice and are also given in the Thesis Format & Layout
All students must give the Institute three months notice of their intention to submit their thesis. The student can only give such notice following approval from their supervisors indicating that the work is at a stage suitable for submission. See Submission of a Thesis for a Research Degree Award for more information.
The thesis will be referred by the Institute’s Registrar [not by the candidate or the Supervisor(s)] to the examiners. See Examination of Thesis & Candidate for more information.
The examiners may, if they consider it necessary, conduct a viva voce examination of the candidate on the programme of work and on the field of study concerned. A viva voce examination is a mandatory requirement for PhD examinations. See Viva Guidelines for details on the structure of the viva and some helpful hints on preparation.
