CMHI Strategy

IMG_0669 The strategic vision for CMHI is to expand our  understanding of host-pathogen interactions in order to develop vaccines and / or novel immunotherapies to fight these infections. Our current studies are focussed on the Cystic fibrosis (CF) pathogens, B. cepacia complex and their interactions with lung cells. However, we also examine the interactions of other lung pathogens with lung cells and will in the future study pathogens that attack other mucosal surfaces, including intestinal pathogens. In addition, by obtaining sufficient funding to maintain a core group of researchers we will educate and train MSc and PhD students in order that they may make a significant contribution as professionals in the science based economy. The centre aims to  continue to generate relevant research that impacts directly on patient care.
