How does the SAF work?

The Application Process:

  • Complete all sections of the Application Form
  • Attach all the necessary documents listed in Tables 1 & 2
  • Return the Form and documents to Room 126. Take the 1st right before the Registrars Office (the door will be open) and it is the room on the left hand side. Only between the hours of 10.00am and 1.00pm
  • You must give in your application by 5.00pm on Friday 18th November. Late applications will not be considered.
  • The earlier you hand in your application the sooner the Committee can assess it.

You will be informed in writing and by text. Be aware we have a huge amount of applications so please be patient until you hear a response from us.

  • An initial amount for your first payment will be approved. A second smaller amount will be approved in the second semester
  • You will be asked to submit receipts for the amount approved - YOU CAN ONLY BE GIVEN FUNDING FOR EXPENDITURE YOU HAVE RECEIPTS FOR - SO KEEP ALL RECEIPTS FOR:
  • Books/Materials
  • Transport
  • Rent
  • Heat/Light/Food
  • Medical/Dental expenses
  • Costs of compulsory study abroad
  • A payment will be made to your Bank Account. You must be in good financial standing to receive monies.
  • In the 2nd semester, we will approve additional monies for a second payment and we will write to you by letter about this. The amount of the second payment will depend on the volume of applications we assess and the availibility of funds.

Childcare:

This Fund does not cover Childcare costs.  There is a Crèche on campus and the cost is subsidised.  Registered Full time students are eligible to apply for places and financial support will be provided for approved applicants.

  • You will be informed in writing.
  • You can appeal the Committee’s decision by writing to: The Student Assistance Fund Appeal, Registrar’s Office.
